Violinist, teacher and curator Jane Kittredge earned her Bachelor and Masters of Music degrees at the Mannes College of Music under the tutelage of Sally Thomas, Lucie Robert, Laurie Smukler, Garrett Fischbach and Evelyn Read. Her solo performance engagements, orchestral tours and chamber festival appearances have brought her across the United States and Mexico, to London, Beijing, Italy, Canada and the French Alps.

Based in Shelburne, Vermont, Jane is a member of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and can be seen and heard performing with her contemporary string quartet, SKYLARK. In addition, Jane performs with a variety of regional ensembles throughout the northeast including the Springfield Symphony, the Opera Company of Middlebury, Opera North, the Handel Society of Dartmouth College, the Middlebury Bach Festival, the Burlington Choral Society, for which she serves as personnel manager.


An avid educator, Jane is the Violin Professor at the University of Vermont and maintains a small private studio. She is an active member of Vermont's arts community boards and has been on the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival Board since 2019.


Jane's classical training has allowed her to perform in a number music styles ranging from early Baroque to folk, jazz rock to pop, and everything in between. Jane's collaborations include performances with Trey Anastasio, Ryan Miller, Ray Vega, Dionne Warwick, Lucius, Gregory Alan Isakov and Sarah McLachlan. Listen for Jane on albums by Vermont musicians Steve Hartmann, Josh Panda, Henry Jamison, and Joseph Pensak. She can also be heard on the soundtrack to the 2016 comedy-drama film “The Fundamentals of Caring” and on the 2023 cast recording of the musical "Humbug."

A native of Middlesex, Vermont, Jane is the youngest of five children. When not playing, Jane loves to run, sing, hike, bake, dance, spoil her nieces and nephews, and shamelessly indulge in her addiction to European Soccer.
